چکیده

The main target of the present work is to characterize effect inclusion natural sheep wool (SW) into a railway brake block composition and then compare it that set three organic fibers commonly used in friction material industry: aramid fiber (AF), cellulose (CF) polyacrylonitrile (PAN). In order achieve this, 4 versions same with fixed amount each were produced one more sample was manufactured including no fibers. characterization consisted tests on full-scale test rig. Then, samples SEM analyzed tested surface microstructure. It found all helped stable bedding, showed lower wet conditions. They also affected recovery %. Pictures blocks taken after certain phases and, although failure sequence remained for samples, very much influenced magnitude wear rates. Sheep led better results than cellulose. No final conclusions could be drawn respect metal pick-up. analysis evidenced primary secondary plateaus, but significant differences observed depending nature. Finally, Life Cycle Assessment “from cradle gate” perspective carried out. Ecoinvent v3.5 database CML ReCiPe Endpoint methodologies evaluate environmental impact create by five materials. Overall, cellulose, PAN show slightly impacts base or Therefore, Latxa offers good balance between low cost, adequate rates impact, making compelling substitute

Saffron Petals, a by-product for dyeing of wool fibers ‎

The dyeing of wool fibers using saffron petals as a natural dye has been studied for first time in this paper. Saffron petal is one of the by-products of fields which are thrown away after harvesting while they can possibly be used. A series of dyeing formulation prepared with saffron petals and different mordants and the mordant effect on hue, light and wash fastness of dyed fibers were invest...

Cell migration in wool follicles of sheep.

The migration of cells in wool follicles was studied by autoradiography of skin biopsies taken at half-day intervals from 2 to 5 days after intradermal injections of tritiated thymidine in 8 Corriedale sheep on different planes of nutrition. Cell migration rates were not the same in all follicles. Therefore, the shortest and longest times for cells to migrate to defined levels in the follicles ...

Persistence of Tartrazine in Marking Sheep Wool

Tartrazine was examined as a possible replacement marker for rhodamine B in the Livestock Protection Collar. Test solutions were formulated in six combinations; tartrazine at 0.5% and 1.07. concentrations, with and without compound 1080, and with and without nigrosin black. Each solution was examined for persistence of color in the laboratory and when applied to the wool of dried sheep hide. Hi...

Genetic factors controlling wool shedding in a composite Easycare sheep flock.

Historically, sheep have been selectively bred for desirable traits including wool characteristics. However, recent moves towards extensive farming and reduced farm labour have seen a renewed interest in Easycare breeds. The aim of this study was to quantify the underlying genetic architecture of wool shedding in an Easycare flock. Wool shedding scores were collected from 565 pedigreed commerci...
